ALTAR SOCIETY
St. Joseph Altar Society is for all women in the parish. It is the women’s ministry of the church. There is a general meeting the first Thursday of the month at 11:00 am. This organization sponsors many support missions within the church community. Some of the functions they are involved in are: providing bread and wine for the Mass, sponsoring the Fall Dinner, organizing a pizza booth at the Festival in the Park, selling baked good at a booth at the Harvest Fest, and hosting luncheons after funerals. The Altar Society is divided into smaller groups: the divisions are: St. Therese, St. Pat, St. Elizabeth, St. Joan of Arc, St. Anne, and St. Margaret Mary.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus is a national organization of Catholic men. St. Joseph Council, Father Szalay Council #6251, was chartered in 1970. Members of the Fr. Szalay Council participate actively in: church ministries, charitable community activities, National and Diocesan council activities, and sponsor various youth activities. The Knights of Columbus have a strong devotion to church, family, and community. The Knights sponsor a Pancake breakfast the first Sunday of each month which helps to fund their many charitable endeavors. Regular meeting are the first Monday of each month.
CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is a national organization of Catholic women who strive to embrace the principle of faith working thru love. The Catholic Daughters undertake religious, charitable, and educational works on the local, state, and national level and throughout the world. Locally, our Spearfish court strives to provide spiritual activities as well as provide financial support for numerous causes. The organization promotes prayer and the public recitation of the rosary, engages guest speakers to speak concerning matter of faith, and sponsors several fund raising activities which help to support numerous worthwhile causes.
HOMEBOUND MINISTRY
If you or a member of your family are no longer able to come to Mass on a regular basis, we will connect you with someone who will bring the Eucharist to your home. We also provide instruction and guidance if you wish to take the Eucharist to your family member or a friend.

HOSPITAL MINISTRY
This requires compassionate people to make weekly visits to people in the hospital.
HOSPITALITY TRANSPORTATION
This ministry finds rides to Mass for those in need of transportation. Prairie Hills Transit will now have a bus to pick you up at your home for Sunday 8:30 a.m. Mass. If you would like this service, please call 642-6668 by Friday to schedule a ride.
OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
Assist the office staff in answering the phones, copying, office work and special events.
PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD
Makes and designs quilts to be given out at infant Baptisms.
WELCOME COMMITTEE
The Welcoming Committee functions to welcome new parishioners into the parish and acting as a liaison by assisting new members to be as actively involved in parish life as their circumstances permit. |
